Neighborhood mediator
“For years, the atmosphere between neighbors was spoiled by a crooked fence.
Until they started talking to each other and heard the story behind it.
The fence has been repaired and so has the contact!”
A neighborly dispute is not pleasant for anyone. That is why we are looking for mediators who will talk to the residents to find a solution.
What do you do as a neighborhood mediator:
- After reading the report, you and a fellow mediator visit the home of the neighbor who reported the incident.
- Together you listen to the story and the experience of this neighbor.
- Subsequently, you unexpectedly visit the other neighbor, the possible perpetrator and through the eyes of the first neighbor, with your fellow mediator.
- Together you listen to the story and the experience of this neighbor. Often the same story… but the other way around.
- You remain neutral and impartial and look for the common interest of the neighbors. - You and your fellow neighbourhood mediator try to get the neighbours to sit down, under
your guidance and with your support.
- Conduct a mediation conversation together and help ensure that they leave
in harmony.
It is good to know that you will always go out with an experienced neighbourhood mediator.
In addition, we are happy to help you further develop your skills. You can follow various training courses with us, such as intuitive mediation, mediation with vulnerable people, deepening coaching skills, making feelings discussable, stimulating your own strength, etc.
And... know that there is already a fight between the neighbours, so you cannot make it worse.
The neighborhood mediator we are looking for:
- has good ears
- is patient and wants to help people so that they can live together again
- can give people the feeling that they are being heard
- is open to many different opinions
- wants to get to know new worlds
And do you speak one or more other languages besides Dutch, such as Arabic, Berber, Bulgarian, German, English, Finnish, French, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tigrinya, Turkish, Urdu and/or Swedish, then you are an indispensable link for good communication and more than welcome!
This makes it extra fun for you:
• This work is very educational, you develop skills
• In-depth training tailored to your needs
• Lots of personal attention
• Team building activities
• “Neighborhood mediators” are very nice people to get to know
• You participate in discussions about the further development of neighborhood mediation
• You indicate in consultation how much and when you are available, a mediation
takes an average of 1 to 2 half days.
