The board of Almelo Sociaal facilitates and supports the activities of a number of volunteer organizations. These organizations represent the interests of groups of residents of Almelo, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, people who rely on benefits or who are seeking help under the Wmo. The secretariat provides facilities such as meeting rooms and consultation hours. The board takes care of financial matters such as applying for subsidies and is accountable to the municipality. Who are we looking for? Almelo Sociaal is looking for enthusiastic and committed people who want to contribute to our organization as board members. Depending on your knowledge and interests, you take on responsibilities in specific areas, such as PR and marketing, writing quarterly and annual reports, technical matters or, for example, digitalization. What do we ask of you? Free time: this varies from 3 to 5 hours per month. There are 10 board meetings per year. If you have experience in the Social Domain, that is our preference. Occasionally you will be heard at political meetings, but you should also not shy away from discussions with organizations such as external partners and stakeholders. Finally, we ask for a constructive attitude and cooperation with fellow board members and other volunteers to achieve the objectives of Almelo Sociaal. Do you recognize yourself in this? With family support Home Start you can use your experience as an educator to support someone else. Home Start volunteers are there for parents of young children who need a helping hand or who have practical questions. “When I first heard about Home Start I thought it was really tough, like something had to go wrong. But now I have the support myself, and that is not the case at all! It feels more like a neighbor coming over, someone who just has a different view on things. You will visit his or her family weekly for a year. You offer a listening ear, answer practical parenting questions or, for example, do something fun with the family. It doesn't matter how many children they have and whether they have big or small questions. We are looking for a host/hostess for our community center room At Bosshardt of the Salvation Army at Troelstralaan 1 in Almelo. The community center is visited by people from the neighborhood who need a chat or activity. We also have a second-hand clothing store that is frequently visited and we provide a hot meal twice a week. The tasks consist of providing coffee/tea, having a chat, playing games and ensuring a pleasant atmosphere. The possible working days are Monday from 9.45 am to 12.15 pm and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.15 am to 1.30 pm.
